Dear Association of Waldorf Schools of North America, dear Friends and Colleagues!

We send you warm and friendly greetings from Ukraine – from our Waldorf school in the city of Dnipro, which lives every day thanks to the children, the trust of parents, the inspiration of teachers, and the feeling that we are the part of a large international Waldorf family.

In the fall, we were sincerely happy to welcome Mr. Karl Schurman, who with great attention and heart warmth got acquainted with our school, visited the lessons, and talked with the teachers and children. His openness, keen interest, and genuine presence were a great support and inspiration for us. We felt seen, understood, and accepted in a wide professional circle, and this was truly valuable for our entire community.

30 years ago, in the fall of 1995, our Waldorf school grew out of a simple but very vivid dream of a small community of like-minded persons – aiming to create a place where the child is seen and accepted as a whole: with his talents, moods, questions, difficulties and gifts. Nowadays we provide education for our students at all levels: from preschool to senior high school. Currently, 302 children are educated in our school.

Our daily lives are full of simple, yet important things: morning circles, crafts, lessons of music, art, eurythmy, history, nature, languages ​​and science. All our classes have a lively atmosphere – lots of laughter, open conversations and curious, sometimes unexpected questions. What makes us most happy is watching how children gradually open up when they feel that they are being treated with attention, respect and enough time for themselves.

The last few years have been difficult for all Ukrainians. The war has greatly changed the lives of our families and children. Moving, anxiety, losses, separations, sirens - this is what they have to live with. And at the same time, we feel and do everything to ensure that our school becomes a place where you can breathe a little, feel the rhythm, warmth and simple human support.

Now we consider our most important task to teach children to trust life again: through creativity, manual labor, music, joint songs, and attentiveness to rhythms, which gradually restore a sense of support.

We sincerely appreciate your interest and emphasize the importance of realizing that somewhere far away there are people and schools who share the same values. We really want to not only tell you about ourselves, but also get to know you better. 

We will sincerely welcome any contact: exchange of experiences between teachers, acquaintance between classes, joint children's projects or just friendly correspondence. Even a small connection can become something truly important and valuable for children. 

Thank you for your work, for developing Waldorf education and keeping its spirit alive. We really appreciate the openness and the opportunity to be in this shared space.
