Dear Friends!
We are the “Stupeni” Waldorf school and kindergarten in Odessa, located on the Black Sea coast. Our school has been operating since 1993. We currently have 11 classes and two kindergarten groups, as well as classes for children with special educational needs.
We love our school very much, because it is a space in which children can be themselves and develop in a healthy way. We have a beautiful and comforting property where children have the opportunity to walk, play outdoor games, and do gardening. Our children traditionally play flutes and sing, put on performances, sculpt from clay, draw beautifully and, of course live all seasons according to their age and the rhythm of each year.
Despite the war and the difficult situation in the city, we work in person. Thanks to the Friends of the Art of Education foundation (Der Freunde), we have been able to build a shelter in which we can continue lessons even during alarms, which sometimes last almost the whole day.
We try to give children every possible care because, even in difficult times, they should live their happy childhood. We also support the families of our school and our teachers. During heavy shelling our school provides shelter to those for whom staying at home is dangerous. We go on trips with classes to safer regions and countries to give children at least a few weeks of peace and quiet.
So our school and kindergarten continue to work and give children a space in which they feel safe and happy.
